Woodall
Country House and Spa is set amongst peaceful citrus, a mere 45
minutes from Port Elizabeth, and neighbour to the malaria-free Addo
Elephant National Park.

establishment was developed from the original farmhouse built in the
early 1900’s and the charming ambience and character of yesteryear
still permeate the atmosphere. Old world attention to detail blends
seamlessly with contemporary African luxury and style as reflected in
the raw, earthy magnificence of the architecture. This award-winning

luxury and standards of service, reflected in attention to detail and

adjacent Addo Elephant Park, and nearby game reserves such as Schotia,

Accommodation
Opening on to the fresh sight and scent of lush gardens, the
rooms at Woodall are as seeped in luxury as they are in comfort. Each
room is spacious, private, and equipped with every convenience from
climate control to internet access. Other features include private
verandas, en-suite bathrooms, invigorating outdoor showers, mini-bars,
sumptuous furnishings, crisp percale linen, bathrobes, telephones,
electronic safes and CD players. Each room is individually designed,
making use of natural materials, raw silks, and fascinating décor items
collected by the South African owners, on their world travels. Some
rooms reflect a bygone era of indulgent romance, some echo authentic
colonial style, while the more modern suites boast an Afro-chic feel
that blends traditional colours and styles with sophisticated
contemporary flair.

Honeymooners are specially catered for at Woodall Country House
& Spa. The beautiful King suite is ideal for honeymooners. Extras
include flowers, sparkling wine fruit, gift and romantic turndown.
Dining
This exclusive hideaway is renowned for its gourmet cuisine,
which is inspired by the flavours of local ingredients. Karoo venison,
freshly caught East Coast fish, home-made stocks, newly-baked bread, and
local cheeses all form part of the irresistible menu on offer. The
chef’s creative genius is inspired by the unique flavours of freshly
picked produce from Woodall’s own herb and vegetable gardens.
Complementing the menu is the Diner’s Club Platinum award winning
cellar, boasting a unique and comprehensive collection of fine South
African wines, personally selected by the owner. The thatched waterside
sitting and dining area creates an enchanted mood for savouring
sundowner snacks, cocktails, moonlit dinners and after-dinner drinks and
cigars, with glimpses of rare South African waterbirds. Packed
breakfasts, picnics, lunches, healthy spa cuisine and specific meal
requests are keenly accommodated by the Woodall kitchen.
Breakfasts: Sumptuous Farm breakfasts, either full South African Style
or extensive Continental, both served with home-made jams, preserves,
scones, croissants or muffins.
Dinners: Excellent gourmet cuisine served by candlelight in the thatched
African style dining room overlooking the reed dam. Gourmet six course
meals accompanied by fine wines.
Spa and Gym
The Spa, a sanctuary for utter relaxation, rejuvenation and
indulgence flows onto a salt water pool, fringed with palms and a
waterfall. Enveloped in a warm cocoon of soft music and calming
fragrances, guests are thoroughly pampered and gently coaxed into a
state of absolute well-being. Local therapists with world class skills
offer a comprehensive range of massage, health and beauty treatments,
and every detail is dedicated to 5 star luxury and comfort. Refreshing
beverages, such as home made lemon juice, and healthy cuisine complement

Game Drives and Activities

area. Woodall’s private safari vehicle departs daily to Addo Elephant

experience. Excursions to nearby private game reserves such as Schotia,
Amakhala, Pumba and Kwantu are easily arranged. Guests can meander
through the scented citrus orchards; walk with the elephants in the
mountains, enjoy a game of golf; soak up local history on a valley tour

Social Responsibility
Woodall Country House takes a keen interest in benefiting the
community, and has a policy of only employing local residents wherever
possible. In addition local artists and contractors are commissioned,
and many of the unique décor objects, pieces of furniture and items in
the curio shop have been fashioned by local crafts folk. Woodall is an
active force in the Church Feeding Scheme, providing crèches in the
local communities of Nomathamsanqa, Langbos and Valencia with basic
foodstuffs, donations of clothing and other essential items. Woodall is
also proud to sponsor “Elephant City”, one of the top soccer teams
in Nomathamsanqa.
